Annie Wersching played the batters wife in the 17 minute short film “The Showdown” (2006). The Showdown premiered at the Omaha Film Festival on March 25, 2006 and opened theatrically for Academy Awards legibility on September 22, 2006 at the Fine Arts in Beverly Hills.

Awards and Nominations

The Showdown was very well received, winning the “Award for Filmmaking Excellence” at the 2nd Annual Baseball Hall of Fame Film Festival, the “Audience Award” at the Omaha Film Festival, and placing second in the Twin Rivers Media Festival. The Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) awarded The Showdown “The Triple Play Award for Best Technical Integration” on July 16, 2006 – Best Cinematography (Deland Nuse), Best Editing (Antony & Fulvio Sestito), and Best Original Score (Keith J. Hersch).

Additionally, brothers Fulvio and Antony Sestito were nominated for “best directing” at the San Fernando Valley Film Festival – the only short film to receive a nomination. The Hermosa Shorts Film Festival nominated The Showdown for “Best Editing”.
