“I’m scared of what’s happening to you. You put these people through hell and it doesn’t bother you.”
Renee Walker: I can’t get it to boot. Hard drive must be fried.
Jack Bauer: Let’s search the bodies. Start with him.
Renee Walker: (answering cell phone) Yeah?
Larry Moss: Renee, it’s me. Bill Buchanan just briefed me on your situation. What’s Henry Taylor’s status?
Renee Walker: We got him in an ambulance en route to West Arlington Hospital. I don’t know his current condition.
Larry Moss: Buchanan told me you and Bauer were in a firefight.
Renee Walker: Yeah. We took down six of Dubaku’s men, but Dubaku was gone before we got there.
Larry Moss: You all right?
Renee Walker: Been in worse.
Larry Moss: You sure?
Renee Walker: I’m fine, Larry.
Larry Moss: Really? I’m not so sure about that.
Renee Walker: And what is that supposed to mean?
Larry Moss: I’m looking at a report faxed to me from Metro Police. A Mrs. Carol Vossler is claiming an unidentified woman held her and her child hostage at gunpoint. She says the woman threatened to kill her son.
Renee Walker: Larry, we discussed this. We needed to get Vossler to tell us where Taylor was being held. It was the only leverage we had.
Larry Moss: Yeah. Right. Whatever’s necessary. Jack Bauer’s rationalization for every unethical action he takes.
Renee Walker: Well, it worked, Larry. Doesn’t that count for something?
Larry Moss: Renee, Jack Bauer is about to be strung up by a Senate subcommittee and you are following his playbook. You already got the A.G.’s office looking into that thing you pulled with Tanner’s respirator. And now this.
Renee Walker: No one was actually hurt.
Larry Moss: No one — (slaps desk) Renee, Bauer killed the woman’s husband! Renee, I swear to you here… I am scared of what is happening to you. You put these people through hell, and it doesn’t bother you.
Renee Walker: I didn’t say that it doesn’t bother me, Larry. I said that it worked. Of course it bothers me. I can see that woman’s face… she and her child staring at me with such — she had no idea that her husband was a killer, a traitor to his country, and she looked at me like I was the monster.
Jack Bauer: Agent Walker.
Renee Walker: Hold on.
Jack Bauer: I cross-referenced the information on these P.D.A.’s. I came across some banking transactions all from a series of accounts registered to the same address.
Renee Walker: You think it’s the safe house?
Jack Bauer: It’s worth a shot.
Renee Walker: Larry, we may have an address on Dubaku.
Jack Bauer: 21917 Euclid Street, Apartment 6.
Renee Walker: (repeating information to Larry) 21917 Euclid Street, Unit 6. We’re moving out now. Can you provide sat surveillance?
Larry Moss: Yeah. Bill Buchanan’s sending somebody over to run tech. But until she’s up and running, you’re gonna have to go in blind.
Renee Walker: Okay. We’ll be in touch.
Jack Bauer: You sure you’re okay?
Renee Walker: Fine.
Jack Bauer: Let’s go.
