Jack Bauer and Renee Walker plan their off-book rescue operation to rescue First Gentleman Henry Taylor from the terrorists. Renee suggests bringing in Larry Moss and asks him to check Secret Service Agent Brian Gedge’s phone logs and find the people Gedge was in contact with recently. He orders her to meet him in person at the Capitol Reflecting Pool.
Ethan Kanin: You may use this room if you need to. I’ll have you escorted back out through the underground entrance when you’re ready.
Jack Bauer: I need a copy of the president and the first gentleman’s Secret Service details.
Ethan Kanin: I’ll have it brought to you.
Jack Bauer: Thank you. Okay. We’ll start off with Agent Gedge. We need to access his phone records. I wanna know who he’s been talking to over the last few hours. Obviously, we can’t use any of the president’s security people. Thank you.
Renee Walker: Phone logs are highly classified especially for agents assigned to the first family. Can Chloe O’Brian get access?
Jack Bauer: Be faster if we can get someone who’s already got clearance.
Renee Walker: Larry Moss.
Jack Bauer: He doesn’t strike me as someone who’s willing to work outside the system.
Renee Walker: That’s true. But I think I can persuade him to do what we need.
Jack Bauer: You really trust him?
Renee Walker: Yes. We know each other pretty well.
Jack Bauer: Fine. Try him. We don’t have much time.
Larry Moss: (picking up phone) It’s Agent Moss.
Renee Walker: Larry. It’s Renee. I’m alive, but you can’t let anyone know. Do you understand me?
Larry Moss: Oh, my God. Renee? What — where are you? Are you all right?
Renee Walker: I’m fine. I’ll explain later. But right now, we need your help.
Larry Moss: Who’s “we”?
Renee Walker: Myself and Jack Bauer.
Larry Moss: What?
Renee Walker: He’s on our side, Larry, just like he said. Everything that he did, he did to preserve his cover.
Larry Moss: Renee, this whole time I’ve been thinking you were dead. Why didn’t you tell me?
Renee Walker: The Bureau is compromised, Larry, just like he said… and no one there can know about this operation. It has to stay completely off book.
Larry Moss: What operation?
Renee Walker: Jack and I are at the White House. The first gentleman has been kidnapped by Ike Dubaku.
Larry Moss: I don’t – I don’t know anything about that.
Renee Walker: It’s true. The president’s asked Jack and me to find him… and very few people know about this, and that’s the way that it has to stay. If we don’t find him by 4:00 p.m., he’ll be killed. Larry. If you’ve ever trusted me, trust me know, please, and help me.
Larry Moss: What do you want me to do?
Renee Walker: Looks like the first gentleman’s Secret Service agent was involved in a ll of this. Brian Gedge. He’s dead. You need to check his phone logs and get all the information you can about who he’s been in contact with recently.
Larry Moss: I need to see you, make sure this is real, that you’re not under duress.
Renee Walker: There’s no time for that.
Larry Moss: That’s non-negotiable. You want my help, we meet. Capitol Reflecting Pool, asoon as you can get there.
Renee Walker: Okay, fine. (hangs up) He’ll help us, I think, but we need to go.
